Lake of the Ozarks Shootout Earns
Powerboat's 2010 Readers Choice Award

Ventura, Calif., (July 27, 2010)-The readers of Powerboat have spoken. With 20 categories up for grabs, the magazine's dedicated group of performance-boat enthusiasts voted loud and clear in Powerboat's 2010 Readers Choice Awards.

From overall winners to honorable mentions, 60 different awards were handed out for the inaugural Readers Choice Awards in the September 2010 issue.

In the competitive "Favorite Race or Shootout" category, the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout at Captain Ron's took home the top honors. Here is what the editors of Powerboat had to say about the popular Missouri event:

"Now in its 22nd year, the Lake of the Ozarks Shootout is an event on most performance boaters' bucket list. Not only can you watch some of the world's fastest boats, but you can enjoy other events and parties on the popular Missouri lake."

Nearly 900 responses from boaters from all across North America, as well as a handful of countries including Switzerland, Norway and Italy, were collected for the awards.

"We were extremely pleased with the participation in our inaugural Readers Choice Awards," said Jason Johnson, senior editor of Powerboat. "The passion our readers have for this industry is unmatched. We'd like to congratulate every winner-being selected by our readers as the 'favorite' or 'best' in any category is quite an honor."

Of note: Also earning the award for "Favorite Boating Destination" was Lake of the Ozarks, which edged out two Florida honorable mentions-the Florida Keys and the Emerald Coast/Destin area.
